The directors of Ballarat Body Wise Birth Services, Carly Wemyss and Lisa Thorneycroft are experienced Birth Attendants/Doulas, Childbirth Educators, Pregnancy Massage Therapists & Breastfeeding Support Counsellors, and provide the following services for local families.
Doula Care Packages
1. Initial consultation
To introduce myself and to explain a bit about what we do
No charge
2. Standard Pregnancy and Labour Support PackageFive antenatal visits to your home of approximately 2 hours per visit
Maximum of three full body / lymphatic massage sessions of 1 hour
24 hour on-call for two weeks before and two weeks after the due date
Full support during labour, birth and immediate postnatal period
One postnatal visit to the hospital of approximately 1 hour
One postnatal visit to your home of approximately 1-2 hours
Birth de-briefing session
Package cost $800 (discounts available for concession card holders*)
Free for mums under 20 years of age
3. Extra Antenatal Support for High Risk Pregnancies
The cost of this support will depend on your needs. Women who are at home on bed rest for such things as high blood pressure, threatened miscarriage or severe morning sickness may need a doula to assist them with: (a) physical support, such as showering, massage and general home care; (b) emotional support such as visualisation, discussion, feelings management; (c) informational support such as video’s books, understanding the possibilities of their condition, discussion and planning. This kind of support is based on an hourly rate of $25 (minimum of 2 hours)
4. Supporting a Birth Only
It is far better for us to get to know each other prior to the birth,
however we understand that situations can arise which call for
additional / last minute support. Cost $400
5. Extra Postnatal SupportDoulas do not normally do house cleaning but we are extremely versatile and can organise household care, bill paying and shopping. However, the main role of the postpartum doula is informational and emotional support. They are able to suggest ways of overcoming breastfeeding and other postnatal problems and they are able to help the woman to de-stress. The cost of postnatal doula work is based on an hourly rate of $25 (minimum of 2 hours)
6. Overnight sleep support service
Up to 12 hours overnight support for families with babies
aged up to 18 months Cost of $200
7. Birth (Miscarriage or Loss) De-briefing
Birth, (includes miscarriage or any loss) debriefing offers an opportunity for a greater understanding of what happened at your birth as well as an opportunity for your story to be heard and counselled with a woman who understands the birthing world and the impact of unmet expectations.
The cost if this service is at an hourly rate of $25
Free for mums under 20 years of age
8. Second Doula attending birth
Available at an extra cost of $200
9. Pregnancy Massage / Full Body Massage (for mums and dads!)
Including facial deep cleanse facial massage and moisture treatment, foot de-tox soak and reflexology massage, and full body relaxation massage. Cost $60
11. Ear candling
Cost $25
12. Lymphatic Drainage Massage
Cost $40 ($20 if combined with Full Body Massage)
