I am 29 years old, married and the mother of two beautiful girls, Georgia, 3 and little Kara, 22 months. I have lived in Ballarat most of my life. I am passionate about empowering Ballarat women to be confident in their body and its ability to give birth.
Caring for women on their journey through pregnancy, birth and into early motherhood is such a fantastic experience and an absolute privilege.
My personal journey into motherhood has led me to my career as a Doula and to open a business devoted to not only educating families, but educating other women to become Childbirth Attendant/Doulas so that they can go on to support other women within the community.
After assisting hunderds of families during labour, I have discovered that most hospital staff are so busy running between several patients, taking observation notes and performing procedures, but never really being able to give each mum to be the personal attention they needed.
Most women can tell you what their birth experience/s where like, even after many years. Giving birth creates such vivid memories, so I understand the importance of making it as comfortable as possible. As a doula, I actually have the opportunity to ensure that the environment is conducive to creating memories of a gentle, supported and empowered birth.
Working with women and their partners closely during the pregnancy, helps them to become confident about their choices prior to the birth. Throughout this time relationships are formed so when the day of the birth finally arrives the couple feel safe and protected and unobserved, as a relationship of trust and respect has already been formed.
I am a qualified Childbirth Attendant, Childbirth Educator, Breastfeeding Counsellor. I also have experience in Pregnancy Massage, Accupressure, Homeopathics and other Complimentary therapies.
I am committed to providing women with up-to-date information about birthing options by undertaking on-going education in my field.
